Running Technique Assessments

Improve comfort & gain speed.

We offer running technique assessments for recreational and serious runners and field sport athletes (AFL, soccer, hockey etc).

(We also offer online running coaching).

What do we mean by “recreational and serious runners and field sport athletes”?

If you want to improve your comfort during your weekly twenty minute treadmill jog, we can help.

If you’re a keen weekend warrior runner and you feel technique issues may be holding you back from a faster 5K or half marathon, we’re kitted out to provide assistance.

If you’re a middle-aged weekend warrior hockey, soccer or AFL players, we’re here for you too.

Our initial 60-minute technique assessment involves an analysis of your current technique to see what’s working and what could be improved. As well as this analysis, we coach you through strategies and cues to claim some easy wins in technique modification.

Inclusions

  • 60-minute consultation analysing current form and outlining strategies for improvement

  • A written report detailing the analysis and recommended strategies after the consultation (delivered within 7-10 days). This includes video footage of your running, and detailed instructions on technique modifications as well as drills and exercises to support any changes.

What do our clients say?

“I have just started running a program with Tim from Extension Fitness, and his knowledge about running is remarkable. He analysed my running pattern, posture, and correcting the techniques. I do strength training and follow the running program that Tim creates for me. I tried to follow what I can remember in a running event last week, and finally, I know what it means to be finished strong! I can finish the 12k from the beginning to the end with a relatively similar pace! I would recommend Tim to achieve your fitness goal!” - Jo Gloriana

“This was one of the most self-empowering sessions I’ve ever participated in! I have had three hamstring strains in the last 9 months doing middle distance running, and Tim’s video review and technical analysis quickly highlighted my awareness to what in my running style could be causing this. Then came the running drills, where he gave me some easy to follow prompts regarding my hips, torso, head and arms which totally transformed the way I feel when I run! 5 days later and these prompts are still informing my awareness, not just when I do running training, but as I walk between classes (with much better posture and gait!), and play other sports. I wish I had of seen Tim 20 years ago (would have prevented a lot of soft tissue injuries!) and can’t recommend him highly enough!” - Ben Dallin

“I cannot recommend Tim at Extension Fitness enough.
I was nervous before my first session as having MS and foot drop I wasn’t sure what to expect or if anything could be done to help my running. Tim made me feel welcome from the start, helped me with my running technique and gave me a plan with particular exercises to improve my form.
It has only been around 8 weeks but I can already feel the difference in my running form and efficiency. Thank you Tim!!” - Rebecca Cavanagh
