Client Case Study: Meet Rae
When I think of Rae, here are the words that come into my mind:
Generous
Calm
Warm
Open
Logical
Mischief
“Smile and Nod”
Determination
Strategic
Calculated Risks
Loyal
Besides providing me with a twice-weekly mind expanding interlocutor, Rae is pursuing increased physical capability via personal training with Extension Fitness.
Rae experienced a stroke as a baby, which resulted in cerebral palsy.
Nowadays, she’s keen to ensure she’s fit, strong and healthy - doing what she needs and loves to do. This includes: running laps of the river, working as a paralegal, spending time with her family and friends plus general purpose “adult-ing” (transport, shopping etc etc).
Specifically, we’re working on lower limb strength in functional movement patterns that map onto running, balance, negotiating steps, carrying & moving objects. We’re also trying to increase or maintain function in her stroke affected right arm and right leg. Rae has a foot drop on her right leg, which is why she wears and AFO (ankle foot orthoses).
Here’s some video of Rae at work.
