Client Case Study: Sam Used A Custom Program To Form An Exercise Habit

Meet Sam. He’s in his early 40s - married with two young kids. Working as a Christian pastor.

Sam and I were chatting at a get together recently. We were talking about my work, and the conversations segued onto his own fitness journey - which is a common occurrence!

Sam had an active childhood and played some sport as a uni student, but as time wore on he had stopped any sort of vigorous exercise or dedicated training. Nowadays, his activity was limited to walks with the dog, or the family, plus active play with his kids.

Exercise-Induced Appetite Changes Can Drive Weight Loss

Many people feel a sense of frustration at how little energy may be “burned” through exercise,

“30 minutes of slogging my guts out and it only burns off 1 mars bar!” (Or words to that effect).

While it’s true that the energy used in training sessions is comparatively small when compared to the quantity of calories you expend in day-to-day life (including sleeping!), you should not lose heart or think that physical training has no impact on weight management.

Reflections On Tracking My Diet Using Cronometer

Recently, I thought that I had better become more familiar with the ins and outs of this tracking process. I want to know what it’s like so I can speak about it in depth with my clients. So, I tracked my food and drink intake for roughly two weeks - albeit imperfectly. Here’s some reflections on that process…

Save Big Dollars On Your NDIS Physio Budget

Many NDIS clients are very keen to access the help of a Therapy Assistant to assist with the routine elements of their Physiotherapy program, for example passive stretching or straightforward muscle strengthening and balance exercises. The fact of the matter is that the process of scientific research into human health, medicine and human physical performance, undertaken by universities and other research institutions is very often quite biased …

Running Technique Tips

Technique is somewhat important. It’s not everything, but it is something! Some people are able to optimise their technique with no attention to the way they move; their body simply makes adjustments to improve efficiency over time. For others, sub-optimal technique is a barrier to their progress – normally because their technique is contributing to pain or injury. These people need to focus on their form so they can reduce pain and unlock the capability to train consistently without injury or excessive discomfort. For both groups, this general effect occurs: good technique and running fitness exist is a symbiotic, interdependent relationship. They can elevate or lower each other.
